The Adventure Has Begun

Greetings from Walt Disney,

It is already day six of the adventure, and are feeling rather overwhelmed with all the information we have received, but I am so excited to be here. Walt Disney once said ‘You can design and create, and build the most wonderful place in the world. But it takes people to make that dream a reality.’ – I am now one of the 65,000 cast at Walt Disney World, Florida making this dream reality!

Apologise for not updating before now – lots to get use to and explore!

It was a long journey from Brisbane to Orlando with my Brisbane flight delayed two hours, prolonging the final goodbye’s to Mum and Jas by several hours, thankfully this shortened the wait in Nandi airport followed by a longhaul flight to LAX. I broke up the 10 hour stopover by checking into the Radisson hotel for a few hours. Finally, the Orlando bound – sitting at the very back of the plane, I had a window seat with amazing views over LA at night and was fortunate to be next to two other girls on the Disney Program.

The first day in Orlando was spent resting and trying to catch up sleep, meeting others, exploring Walmart and finding out where I had to check-in at Disney the following day.

Next was check-in at Disney – found out where I am living – Patterson Court (in a three bedroom apartment) and we were shuttled to the complex and left to sort ourselves out for the next 48 hours...it felt like we were dumped with little info. So I unpacked my gear and started settling in before making a second trip to Walmart. Came back to the apartment and met two of my other roommates with following day consisting of much the same. I am sharing my apartment with four others – Amy , Sam, Tegan and Yujine from Australian, New Zealand and Korea.

The past three days have incorporated various Disney information sessions spanning from paperwork to videos and various presentations.  Today’s agenda was Traditions which saw us learning about the culture, heritage and customs of the organisations, at Disney University, which was topped off by Mickey’s visit to deliver our name tags.

Otherwise I have explored Downtown Disney (and can’t wait to go back shopping) and am off to explore EPCOT tomorrow before work training on Friday and Sunday.

Well, there is so much to share and say, but this provides a snapshot of the start of this adventure.
